Sweden's National Electrical Safety Board (Elsäkerhetsverket) has implemented a sales ban for ten different types of chargers, and ordered a recall for five of the ten due to shortcomings that can cause fires or electric shocks.

"It's mostly imitation copies of Apple and Samsung products that have been found to have deficiencies that are so serious that people should immediately return the product to the store where it was purchased," agency spokesman Per Hellström told the TT news agency.

Tests carried out by the safety board revealed that several chargers had manufacturing defects and several lacked CE-marking which is required for products to be sold within the European market.

The safety board warned that "thousands" of the dangerous chargers had been sold all across Sweden and urged consumers to contact the agency for more information (see link below).
