Microsoft tops best Swedish workplace list
Microsoft Sweden, American Express and McDonald's are among the best workplaces in Sweden, according to a new survey by international consultancy group Great Place to Work.
"The purpose with the Sweden's Best Workplaces survey is to draw attention to the organisations which work actively for an exemplary workplace culture," said Great Place to Work's CEO Maria Grudén in a statement.
Some 122 companies are featured in the 2013 list which is divided into three categories according to the number of employees.
Among the larger firms (more than 250 employees) selected for recognition in the study include top-placed Microsoft AB, software firm IFS, fast-food restaurant chain McDonald's and Nordic Choice Hotels.
Construction industry supplies firm Hilti, which came in second, was named as "rocket of the year" awarded for the firm which had climbed the most in the rankings.
The list of smaller firms (with 20-49 employees) was headed by state employee organ Trygghetsstiftelsen, governance consultant Transcendent Group and IT consultant Ecru Consulting, which also won best newcomer.
The medium-sized firm category (50-249 employees) was headed by technology firm W.L.Gore & Associates Scandinavia, IT firm Centiro Solutions and direct sales firm Key Solutions AB.
The Great Place to Work to Work Institute was founded in the US in 1983 and has awarded prizes to firms across Europe for the past eleven years. The rankings are based on employee surveys of 59 different criteria.
