Bieber fever has swept a portion of the Zurich population — the teenage girl portion.

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, who shot to super-stardom through his YouTube videos, is set to perform at the Hallenstadion stadium on Friday night in the latest gig on a rocky European tour.

The singer, who just turned 19, collapsed on stage in London earlier this month and was forced to stay overnight in hospital.

He turned up as much as two hours late for another concert and was forced to cancel one in Portugal.

His antics, including an expletive-filled run-in with a photographer in London, his reported expulsion from a top Paris hotel and his unpredictable behaviour, have led him to being labelled a “pop brat” by a British tabloid.

But that apparently hasn’t put off his “Belieber” fans in Zurich.

Blick.ch reported that dozens of teenage fans skipped school to stand outside the Swissôtel in Zurich-Oerlikon, hoping to catch a glimpse of the hearthrob.

They were disappointed, however, because only part of the singer’s entourage stayed there, the website said.

Bieber was instead staying at the five-star Grand Hotel Dolder, Blick reported.

The 19th century hotel luxury spa hotel was enlarged and renovated a few years ago with a design by British architect Norman Foster.

Bieber arrived a day early and spent part of Thursday snowboarding at Hoch-Ybrig, a ski area in the canton of Schwyz.

“I cannot wait to finally be snowboarding in the Swiss mountains,” Blick reported him saying while he rode a cable car up to the slopes.

“A fun day in the Alps,” Bieber tweeted from his Twitter account, which has a mind-boggling 35 million followers.
