Shock news: Electricity prices to drop

Electricity bills in Spain will drop 6.7 percent from April 1st, but that doesn't take away the fact they've skyrocketed by 60 percent over the past five years.
Those struggling to pay their bills are in luck — electricity bills in Spain will fall 6.7% from April 1st.
The drop is due to a 15 percent dip in overall energy prices, with the hourly megawatt rate for big names like Endesa, Iberdrola, Gas Natural Fenosa, E.ON and Hidrocantábrico falling from €54.6 to €45,4.
That doesn't hide the fact that electricity bills have gone up a whopping 60 percent over the last five years.
Other items which have risen in price recently include gas — up over 7 percent in the last year — and medicines, up 12.9 percent in real terms according to the national stats body, the INE.
