A job centre in Düsseldorf has apologised after advertising a vacancy for a "hostess" from a prostitution website. It described the ideal candidate as someone with an aptitude for "communicating their zest for life to men."

The post, published on the website of the Federal Employment Agency, promised "lucrative pay" and required no previous experience, the Bild newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The source of the advertisement was the prostitution website www.escort.de.

"We normally carry out checks on all the companies offering positions," Paul Ebsen, spokesman for the agency said, adding "we regret that this advertisement slipped through and have arranged for it to be removed."

The site features scantily-clad women posing in provocative positions with accompanying profiles outlining their erotic tastes and body types.

The Federal Employment Agency has a network of over 700 branches nationwide and is the largest provider of labour market services in the country.
