Ewald and Stjernberg nab song fest final spots

Pop starlets Anton Ewald and Robin Stjernberg claimed the two remaining spots in the final of Sweden's Melodifestivalen, coming out ahead of the field in the "Second Chance" play off in Karlstad on Saturday.

Ewald was so overcome with emotion after his win that he was lost for words. Tjernberg was however able to articulate his feelings a little better.

"It feels like anything is possible now," he told Sveriges Television (SVT).

Tjernberg beat off the challenge of Martin Rolinski in the head-to-head duel format with an upbeat pop dance number about love entitled You.

Ewald meanwhile overcame multilingual rapper Behrang Miri with an upbeat pop dance number about love entitled Begging.

Irish twins Jedward provided a little light entertainment as the votes were gathered, performing their Eurovision hit Lipstick in a duel with presenters Gina Dirawi and Danny Saucedo.

Dirawi and Saucedo performed their roles in what appeared to be military uniforms from the 1940s. The twins meanwhile displayed more contemporary attire.

Ulrik Munther, Ralf Gyllenhammar, Yohio, David Lindgren, Sean Banan, Louise Hoffsten, State of Drama and Ravaillacz have all previously won their respective heats to qualify for the final.

The hugely popular Melodifestivalen moves on to its grand finale in Stockholm's Friends Arena on March 9th.

The international Eurovision final will take place in Malmö in May and will be hosted by Swedish comic Petra Mede.
