Winter weather chaos hits air and land travel
Wintry weather shut roads and grounded flights in Germany on Monday morning after black ice triggered accidents across the country. Hundreds of flights have been cancelled in and out of Frankfurt and Munich.
Significant delays should be expected on those flights which will leave Frankfurt and Munich. A spokesman from airport operators Fraport said there was still de-icing to do but no further black ice was expected to form.

Black ice forced the closure of Berlin motorway the A111 going north on Monday morning, disrupting traffic to Tegel airport.
And in Bavaria the weather was just as bad with 25 accidents in the Franken area of the state alone and a six car pile up that left no-one injured.
In northern Schleswig-Holstein alone there were 15 accidents over Sunday night and into Monday morning, leaving six people with minor injuries. Lower Saxony commuters hit roads covered in black ice – several crashes left a few people bumped and bruised.
School kids in the Osnabrück and Hameln-Pyrmont areas of the state rejoiced though, as a snow day was declared and they could stay at home.
Details on flight cancellations can be found on Lufthansa's webpage, while the airline is swapping plane tickets for train tickets on those routes which can be replaced by rail journeys.
The late-Sunday night flight from New York to Frankfurt was cancelled, although most of the others cancelled for the day were to and from European destinations.
