"We are pleased to be able to release tickets to this giant party before Christmas," Martin Österdahl, executive producer for the contest said in a statement.

"Since the cheapest tickets don't cost more than €10, we give as many people as possible the opportunity to be a part of this treat in Malmö."

Tickets to a total of nine shows went on sale on Monday, including two dress rehearsals for each semi-final and the grand final, plus three live broadcasts.

Fans were also given a high priority by organizers.

"The fans create the party. They are a big part of the show, and we want them to rule the floor in the Malmö Arena. And to make the fans come closer to the stage, we've taken away the chairs to ensure that the fans will become an even bigger part of the broadcast," Österdahl added.

Organizers explained that when cameras and cranes have been placed and the set design is finalized, more tickets will be available.

The contest will take place on the 14th, 16th and 18th of May in Malmö with rehearsals to be held the night before. The shows will be hosted by Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT).

Also on Monday, the second set of entries into Sweden's own Eurovision qualifying contest, Melodifestivalen, was announced.
