Did a German's bicycle kick outshine Zlatan's?
As the football world continues to gush over Swedish star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s stunning goal against England, a German player has claimed that his triumphant 1977 goal was even better. Watch the videos (below) and chime in with your own views on The Local's Have Your Say.
Klaus Fischer’s goal for Germany against Switzerland was credited as the goal of the century. And although he was full of praise for Zlatan after he scored four goals in the Sweden-England friendly, Fischer said his goal was more technically difficult.
“I watched [Zlatan's] goal on television,” Fischer told the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper.
“It was sensational – something that makes your heart flutter. You don’t see a goal like that every day, which is why you always remember them,” he said.
“I don’t want to blow my own trumpet, but my backwards kick was more difficult from a technical point of view than Ibrahimovic's."

"With mine, the cross came from the side. I had to hit the goal perfectly from the air, with my back to the goal, and also get past the goalkeeper."
"Zlatan's goal was perhaps more eye-catching, but it was also more straight-forward," claimed Fischer.

“Zlatan was very far from the goal. But the box was empty. Had he gotten the ball from a defender and not from the goalie he would have certainly not have tried such a thing.”
But was his goal anywhere near the quality of Zlatan's? Or was there another goal in footballing history that trounces both?
