"Trolls figure so prominently in Swedish folklore, I think this the perfect place for me to be," Dahl told The Local

Dahl's newest series, Troll Hunters, will be on show at the reading at The English Bookshop, in the cobblestoned Gamla Stan (Old Town) district of the capital, on Wednesday in the late afternoon.

"It gets so dark here that I can already imagine people sitting indoors by candlelight, telling each other scary stories," Dahl said.

Dahl will take the stage three times between 5pm and 7pm, reading from his books to a gathering of parents and children.

"Our bookshop is cosy. It has a good and intimate atmosphere," Christer Valdeson of The English Bookshop told The Local.

With international authors coming in for readings about six times a year, Valdeson added that the bookshop is a great place for authors such as Dahl to present their books in English to an appreciative Swedish audience.

The Troll Hunters narrative centres on four friends that have to join forces to battle mythical trolls, with an illustrated glimpse into the horrific - a common theme in the author's 200 strong repertoire.

The English Bookshop is located on Lilla Nygatan, in Gamla Stan, Stockholm
