Parisian drivers discovered they are at little risk of being booked for jumping a stop sign in the capital – because there is only one such sign in the whole city.

The Paris police revealed yesterday in their weekly newsletter that there is only one stop sign in the city, situated at the exit of a building company in the rich 16th arrondissement.

“For traffic in the city centre, it’s the right which gets priority,” the newsletter read as explanation for the lack of stop signs.

“[This rule] applies in to round abouts too, for example the Champs Elysées, which in itself is different to others due to the absence of a central island, which is instead replaced by road markings.”
