While output slid just 0.6 percent over the month to an average of 1.481 million barrels per day (mbpd) in July, the strike had already begun in June, and production was five percent lower than official forecasts by Norway's oil management agency.

Over the first seven months production was 0.5 percent below forecasts.

At the beginning of the year the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate forecast oil production would slide to an average 1.6 mpbd from 1.7 mbpd last year and 1.8 mbpd in 2010.

Production of saleable natural gas production rose to around 9.1 billion cubic metres in July according to preliminary figures, up 6.5 percent from the 8.5 billion cubic metres produced in June.
