One in three Swedes has 'little' faith in Lööf

Confidence for Centre Party leader and minister for energy Annie Lööf has plummeted in a new survey carried out by research company Demoskop.

One in three Swedes, 33 percent, answered that they had "very little” confidence in the Centre Party leader. Only one percent said that they had “a lot” of confidence in her.

When Demoskop interviewed 1,300 Swedes on the behest of daily Expressen, Lööf received a devastating 2.17 out of 5 on a scale of trust, with only Sweden Democrat leader Jimmie Åkesson receiving a lower score, with 1.76.

Lööf did badly in the polls already at the beginning of summer, scoring 2.39. Since then revelation upon revelation about state agency spending seem to have taken their toll on the nation’s views.

Lööf is worried by the figures but said that it was a natural consequence of recent events.

“I view this as very serious. But I can also understand the frustration that people and citizens are feeling over the use of taxpayers’ money in government agencies and the government offices – and that this is being directed at me personally," Lööf told Expressen on Thursday.

At the top of the survey scoreboard was Social Democrat leader Stefan Löfven who received 3.39 in the poll and Moderate leader and current Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, who is gaining ground with a healthy 3.29 of votes.
