Tiny French club eyed by confused Premiership

An amateur football club in Angers has complained after being regularly confused with its professional counterpart, mainly by English clubs looking to recruit.

Since its establishment in 2008, the Angers Football-club has been constantly muddled up with Angers Sporting club de l’Ouest, or Angers Sco.

Comprised of mainly weekend players, Angers Football-club is in the D2 league of the district championship – or 10 leagues below that of Angers Sco in league 2.

The amateur team has even been solicited by professional clubs in England for coaches and players. Earlier this summer they received a letter from Bolton saying: “Our team is looking for players and coaches. We would like to recruit you to take part in the 2012-2013 season.”

They have also had phone calls from Tottenham Hotspurs with similar offers.
