Police were alerted after 10pm on Tuesday after a man had found the 53-year-old dead in her home in Sundsvall.

Police have revealed that the woman had been exposed to extreme violence, and that they are currently making interrogations.

“You could see that she hadn’t died of natural causes,” said Annica Odelind of the Sundsvall police to the Aftonbladet newspaper.

“We can’t say more about how it looked. We’re currently doing a forensic investigation and the body will be autopsied as is routine procedure.”

Police are asking for any members of the public with information to come forward.

“We are looking for people who may have been in western Birsta,” said Odelind, adding that all information is valuable and that police will hear anything related to the case.

The 53-year-old woman lived in her own house just outside of central Sundsvall.

The Sundsvall police would not reveal whether the woman was previously known to them, according to the paper.

Nor would they reveal more information about the man who found the body in the house, or how he had realized there was someone dead inside.
