Swedish couple destroy two cars in head on crash
A man and wife from Degerfors in northern Sweden were recently involved in a head-on collision, resulting in the destruction of both cars, when they crashed into each other on the road to their house.
“The insurance company has never heard of anything like it; that a married couple are involved in a crash and that both their cars are destroyed,” the man, Peter Dahl, told local paper Värmlands tidning (VT).
Dahl had reportedly been rehearsing with his band and was on the way home. His wife, Linda, was driving in the other direction when the couple suddenly crashed into each other. According to the couple, the road to their house only has one blind spot, and that is where the accident happened.
“Neither one of us had a chance to break. There are no skid marks. All of a sudden it just said ‘bang’,” said Dahl to the paper.
Dahl estimated his own speed to about 40 kilometres per hour at the time of the crash, and his wife’s to 30 kilometres per hour, when the Volvo and the Mercedes collided.
They were both taken to hospital in the same ambulance. Dahl has been rendered unconscious by the crash, whereas his wife only had sustained minor injuries. Both could leave the hospital the same day and are reportedly doing well.
“We don’t know who to blame for the incident. Now that we know that nothing worse came of it we try to laugh it off. The insurance company has never heard of anything like it. Both cars are in Linda’s name but she can hardly pay damages to herself,” Dahl told the paper.
