"We want to thank every single one of you that came with us on this journey. We came, we raved, we loved," the group wrote in a message on their official homepage.

Swedish House Mafia consists of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso and was officially formed in late 2008.

Despite the group's relatively short time in existence, the trio have gained significant success and a global clubber following.

Their first official single, "One (Your Name)" released in May 2010 peaked at number 7 in the UK Singles Chart. The group's second single "Miami 2 Ibiza" reached number 4.

The massive success of a third single, "Save the World", further established the trio's burgeoning reputation and a December 2011 date at New York's legendary Madison Square Garden was sold out in nine minutes.

Among the awards that Swedish House Mafia have won include the MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Swedish Act for 2010 and then again in 2011.

Dates for the upcoming farewell tour include the Friends Arena in Solna in November, as well as the Milton Keynes Bowl in the UK on July 14th and a summer stunt on Ibiza.

The group promised that more dates for the autumn will be released in August.
