Mother threatened to toss her son off balcony
A mother from Örebro in southern Sweden is facing child abuse charges on suspicions that she repeatedly beat, threatened and harassed her 4-year-old son, including threats to throw him from a balcony.
The mother is suspected of having bitten her son’s cheek hard enough to leave bite marks, as well as threatening to throw him from a balcony unless he urinated as instructed, according to reports in local newspaper Nerikes Allehanda.
She has also repeatedly called the boy stupid, disgusting and worthless, reported the newspaper.
These attacks against her son allegedly began two years ago, in June 2010, when the boy was just two years old, and have continued until the present day.
According to prosecutor Anna Karlsson, the woman’s treatment of her son is a repeated violation which has damaged his self-esteem.
Ten people will be testifying against the woman, who is in her mid-twenties.
One of the witnesses reports that the young boy has told her that his mother is mean.
In the courtroom, a video interview with the four year-old will also be presented, reported Nerikes Allehanda.
The charges against the mother have been labeled as gross violation of integrity.
