Entire village for sale for just €330,000
A deserted village in south-western France will go under the hammer on Monday, with a guide price of just 330,000 euros ($423,000).
The village of Courbefy in the Limousin region contains nineteen houses, a swimming pool, stables and a tennis court.
All will be included in the sale, scheduled for 2pm on Monday in the nearby town of Limoges.
Reports of the sale in the French media have generated interested and international buyers are now expected to attend the sale.
"For the last ten days, my telephone hasn't stopped ringing," said Evelyne Guilhem, the wife of the area's mayor.
She told regional newspaper Sud-Ouest they were hoping for a buyer who would bring the village back to life.
"What we hope is a project that is sustainable and creates jobs," she said.
After an initial sale in February was poorly attended, there are now at least 150 different potential buyers.
Possible plans for the village include a holiday centre, a centre for people with mental disability and a heliport.
