Swedish women more prone to lose libido over flatulence fears

One in three Swedish women say no to sex due to the fear of farting during the act, according to a new report, while men are only half as likely to forego sex over concerns about breaking wind.

The study, which was commissioned by pharmacy chain Kronan and Swedish research company Novus, found that some 30 percent of women surveyed had said “thanks, but no thanks” to sex due to their gassy stomach, wrote daily Aftonbladet.

Only 15 percent of men made the same claim, however.

Bert Karlsson, a celebrated Swedish 66-year-old record company manager and former politician, was quizzed by the paper on the statistics, and claims to have never used the excuse of a gassy stomach.

“No, above all, I never have problems with my stomach,” he told the paper.

However, discussing such problems at home proves to be less of a problem for Swedes, with some 36 percent of them saying that they talk about such issues with their family.

Meanwhile, in terms of actually passing the gas, fifty percent of the Swedes interviewed said they had no problem with letting one fly in front of their partners.

“Having sex is not something that goes well with breaking wind. That’s the most off-putting thing there is,” quipped Karlsson to Aftonbladet.
