Frantzen/Lindeberg crept into the list at 20, a new entry on the top fifty list published annually by Restaurant Magazine.

The Stockholm eatery is joined on the extended top 50 list by Fäviken in Järpen, Jämtland and Mathias Dahlgren’s Matsalen at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm at 34th and 41st respectively.

Both Frantzen/Lindeberg and Matsalen retained their double Michelin star status in 2012.

The list is topped for the third year running by Copenhagen restaurant Noma.

Other highlights in the top ten include El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain, Per Se in New York, USA and Dinner By Heston Blumenthal in London, UK.

New York is the only city to feature twice in the top ten with the Eleven Madison Park making it a brace for the Big Apple.

The World's 50 Best Restaurants list is organized by Restaurant Magazine and is described as "an annual snapshot of the opinions and experiences of over 800 international restaurant industry experts".

"What constitutes "best" is left to the judgment of these trusted and well-travelled gourmets," the magazine explained in a statement.

The results are compiled by a simple collation of the votes from the travelling gourmets, with each of 27 world regions operating a panel of 31 members.
