Don't you just love a good record store? You walk in and the music they're playing totally rocks. You really get into it as you thumb through a stack of vinyl. On Saturday, record stores around Germany are joining in on a worldwide celebration of music called Record Store Day. Check the program to find one in your city and pick up a few new discs to take for a spin around the turntable.

Erika Stucky – Ping Pong

Mixing jaunty jazz, avant-garde inflections, and wicked yodeling, Erika Stucky is an American-born Swiss singer who has performed well-known hits like “Ballroom Blitz” and “Hit Me Baby One More Time.” On Friday, she joins sound artist Knut Jensen with her ukelele and accordion on stage at the Grüner Salon at the Volksbühne.

Camp/Anti-Camp: A Queer Guide to Everyday Life

Camp! You love it! But what is it? It has a little bit to do with Carmen Miranda perhaps. Andy Warhol's superstars sure knew a thing or two about it. Jump into three days of films, talks, performances, and deep discourse about the concept of camp this weekend in Berlin. Queer cult performers like the iconic Holly Woodlawn and Carmelita Tropicana make for a colourful program.

Dresden Dance Weeks

Dresden has been a center for dance since the early 20th century. This week, dancers from around the world gather in the Saxon city to strut their stuff in front of a discerning audience. Groups like Krepso from the Czech Republic, Trans-Teatr from Russia, and Israeli choreographer Inbahl Oshman form a varied program of modern dance and dance theater that starts Thursday. Be sure to catch the Oslo based Jo Stromgren and Company perform “A Dance Tribute to Ping Pong.”

Night of Museums

There's Italian wine and antipasti at the Archaeology Museum, a Bob Dylan cover band at the Caricature Museum, and Charlie Chaplin shorts at the Film Museum! Ray 2012 – Making History

A picture is worth a thousand words. And a new exhibition at the Frankfurter Kunstverein presents pictures taken by 38 international photographers that analyzes the power of the public image in conveying the truth about historic events. The opening party starts at the MMK then continues at the bar at the Frankfurter Kunstverein Thursday. Look at photographs by Jeff Wall, David LaChapelle and others then talk about them over a beer.
