"I have received two threats, and I know of at least ten who want to kill me," Breivik has told his new psychiatrists, Terje Tørrissen and Agnar Aspaas, according to the Dagbladet daily.

Other sources confirmed to Dagbladet that Breivik had actually received the claimed threats.

Breivik's defence team however are not aware of the details of the death threats.

"We assume that they have arrived by post. We expect that the prison has effective  controls in place, and that they presumably forward these matters on to the police," said Tord Jordet, one of Breivik's four-person strong defence team.

According to Dagbladet the police have however not opened an investigation against any specific individuals as a result of the threats.

The threats to Behring Breivik's life have however been taken seriously and a comprehensive security programme will be put in place when his trial begins on Monday, Breivik will also sit behind a bulletproof glass wall at the trial.

Anders Behring Breivik stands charged with committing acts of terror and voluntary homicide.

Elsewhere on Thursday, Breivik's defence team has been criticised for taking part in an "LA Law-style" photoshoot.

PR expert Hans Geelmuyden told Aftensposten that the pictures, snapped by news agency NTB Scanpix and depicting a polished defence team gathered around a sofa, could undermine the defence which is led by Geir Lippestad.

Lippestad has presented himself to the media in, at times, an exemplary manner. But here it seems that he has confused his roles. He is a publicly appointed defence lawyer and not a fashion model,” Geelmuyden said.

But despite being accused by Geelmuyden of participating in something akin to a "trailer from LA Law", Lippestad is unrepentant, saying that he leaves it up to the media to determine how to report.

“We have nothing to do with the pictures, just as we do not have any input on how the media present us,” he told Aftenposten.
