The man was saved at the last minute by the son of the woman.

News magazine Le Point reports that the woman was drunk when the incident happened on Sunday evening in Paris' well-heeled 8th arrondissement.

The son was alerted to the emergency by unusual sounds coming from his father-in-law.

When he went to investigate, he noticed the apparatus had been unplugged and was able to reconnect them.

After he'd recovered, the man himself was able to tell police officers that his partner had done the unplugging.

The woman was detained by police for questioning.
