Princess Estelle baptism revealed by Royal Palace

Princess Estelle’s baptism date has been announced by the Royal Family, quashing rumours that came through an admin slip up by a Swedish county governor on Monday.

It was announced through the Royal Court’s Facebook page on Tuesday that the princess will be christened on May 22nd.

According to the status update, which has been “liked” over 2,000 times in the two hours since being posted, the baptism will take place in the Royal Chapel, located in the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

The status also mentions that the decision was made at a meeting at the Royal Castle, and confirmed that it will be Archbishop Anders Wejryd who will be christening the princess.

The Local reported yesterday that due to a scheduling conflict, Maria Norrfalk, County Governor of Dalarna in central Sweden, had inadvertently let slip that the date of the baptism may have been May 16th.

The Royal Court promptly responded that no dates had been decided, although Swedish media picked up on the RSVP slip and published the date anyway.

The princess, whose full name is Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary, Duchess of Östergötland, will be 13 weeks old when she is baptized, which is almost exactly the same age as Crown Princess Victoria was when she was christened in September 1977.
