TV mag tells Sarkozy to 'get out'
A weekly TV magazine has apologized after accidentally allowing a mischievous employee to slip in a hostile comment about President Nicolas Sarkozy in a TV review.
In this week's issue of Télé 2 Semaines (TV Fortnight), a programme about France and Germany to be broadcast on Tuesday February 14th mentioned the President's name followed by "dehors!" in brackets. "Dehors" translates in this context as "get out".
The magazine's publisher Prisma Presse apologized for the inadvertent political commentary in a statement released on Tuesday.
"The word "dehors" has been fraudulently added after the name of Nicolas Sarkozy," said the statement.
"This is an act of malice deliberately committed outside the usual proofreading checks of the magazine. Prisma Presse and Télé 2 Semaines offers its apologies to President Nicolas Sarkozy."
The incident happened at the same time as Prisma Presse is outsourcing some of its magazine work.
A union spokesman said there was no link between that process and the political outburst.
"Some colleagues have wrongly drawn a link between the malicious comment about the president and the ongoing conflict," said a statement. "There is no relation between the two events" and "the inopportune comment is the result of an isolated act."
