'Bad taste' film posters to be replaced
Posters promoting a new film starring Oscar-tipped actor Jean Dujardin are to be replaced after complaints that they were too risqué.
The posters show Dujardin and his co-star Gilles Lellouche in provocative poses for a new film, Les Infidèles (The Players).
In one poster, Lellouche is shown talking on the phone saying "it's going to cut out, I'm just entering a tunnel," while a woman is shown on her knees in front of him.
In the other, Dujardin is shown holding a pair of woman's legs while saying "I'm just going into a meeting."
The posters went up in Paris and surrounding areas earlier this week to advertise the film which comes out on February 23rd, just a few days before Dujardin is tipped to walk off with an Academy Award for his performance in hit film The Artist.
Comments on Twitter and other social networks started to appear criticising the images.
"These are crass and vulgar" said one. "Nice representation of women" said another.
Advertising regulator ARPP said that the campaign seemed to contravene rules on taste.
"There is no pre-control for posters," said Stéphane Martin of the ARPP. "However we have advised JC Decaux, who manage the poster sites, to take these down."
Fabrice Leclerc, the editor in chief of the Studio Ciné Live magazine, reported on Wednesday that JC Decaux will remove the posters.
