Swiss inflation falls to 0.2% in 2011

Consumer prices in Switzerland increased by an average of 0.2 percent last year, down from an increase of 0.7 percent in 2010, data from the official statistics agency said on Friday.

During the year, prices of Swiss products increased by 0.6 percent on average as prices of imports fell by 0.7 percent, the agency said.

In 2010, inflation reached 0.7 percent. Prices fell by 0.5 percent in 2009.

The 2011 figure was below an estimate of 0.4 percent by the Swiss central bank.
