Several people found at the scene of the crime have been held for questioning, but as of midday on Monday, no charges had been filed, Uppsala police press spokesman Christer Nordström told news agency TT.

“There are a lot uncertain circumstances surrounding this case at the moment, so I cannot go into detail,” said Nordström.

According to local paper Upsala Nya Tidning (UNT), police were called to the apartment at 6am where they discovered the body. Officers began investigating the crime as a murder immediately.

There were further reports of gun shots fired in the area, Nordström told newspaper Expressen, but admitted that police are being careful in releasing too many details about the case at this point in time.

“We have no new details, we have questioned some people but do not have a suspect or a motive yet,” Nordström told UNT.

According to Expressen the victim was previously known by police and had a history of violent crime.

The people questioned were family members, according to the paper.
