A skiing trip turned bad has led to a Swedish woman being charged in Austria for seriously injuring another woman who claims the Swede pushed her off a lift.

According to the Swedish woman, however, the allegations are “absurd”.

The incident occurred in the Austrian alps, reported the local newspaper Smålandsposten.

The woman, from Växjö in south central Sweden, was getting off a ski lift where she was sitting next to another woman whom she didn’t know.

"Her ski pole got stuck in my boot. I was forced to pull myself free, and then she fell towards a lift pillar," explained the accused woman to the newspaper.

According to Austrian prosecutor, however, the Växjö woman pushed the other skier, causing serious damage to her ligaments.

The Swedish woman disagrees with the accusations, however, claiming the injured woman was an inexperienced skier who was noticeably frightened in the lift.

"It was just an accident. My husband was sitting in the chairlift behind us, and saw how she got stuck in me. If I had done anything wrong, obviously I would've stood for it, but now everything just feels completely absurd," she said.

The Växjö woman has no plans on showing up at the trial in Austria, which is due to start in a month.
