Cop charged for getting naked in front of cleaners
A police officer in western Sweden has been charged for sexually molesting several women after he allegedly exposed himself to them and touched their breasts on several occasions at a police station in Malmö.
According to prosecutors, the man's actions were “systematic” and took place over several years.
The charges are based on testimony given by eight women employed at the station as cleaners.
Three of the women alleged that the officer touched their breasts on several different occasions, sometimes in connection with other close bodily contact that they claimed “violated their sexual integrity”.
Others told investigators how the officer was in the habit of “appearing naked” in front of them when they were attempting to clean the men's showers and changing room at the station.
One of the accusers explained that the officer had exposed himself to her in the dressing room “eight or nine times” between 2008 and 2011.
Testimony from another officer lent support to the women's claims.
He told prosecutors that the his accused colleague had been asked in 2009 to “avoid confronting the cleaning staff by appearing naked in front of them”.
The accused officer, however, has denied any wrongdoing.
