The swirling high pressure system over Germany seems to be showing no signs of moving, as the country will remain cool and dry, with just patches of cloud and fog over the weekend, according to the German Weather Service.

On Friday night, foggy weather will push down to the southwest, leaving the rest of the country enjoying clear skies.

Stargazing, however, might prove unpleasant as temperatures hover below zero in eastern Germany. In the southwest, temperatures will stay around five degrees.

The weekend will be sunny for most during the daytime, but with light fog and low clouds in the south. The east will see crisp highs of 6 degrees Celsius, while the West will enjoy much warmer highs of 13 degrees around the Stuttgart area.

Those wanting to make the most of the dry weather will benefit in the mountains, “where excellent visibility is predicted” according to the German Weather Service.

Saturday night will mark the beginning of cold winter nights, with temperatures sinking to lows of 4 degrees below zero. Some lucky regions in the west will stay above the zero mark, however.

Sunday’s weather will be essentially the same as not a drop of rain is forecast to fall on Germany. Temperatures will be a little cooler though, with highs of 10 degrees in North-Rhine Westphalia.

By Sunday, freezing temperatures will have firmly staked their claim, with night-time temperatures dropping below zero across most of the country.
