Tristane Banon, who has accused former IMF boss Dominique Strauss-Kahn of attempted rape, is launching a book on Thursday which sets out her version of events.

The 126-page book, titled Le Bal des Hypocrites (Dance of the hypocrites), never uses the name of Strauss-Kahn, instead referring to the main protagonist as "the pig".

"With a dignity and sincerity that earns our full admiration, she tells the story of the six weeks that changed her life," said the book's publisher in a statement.

In the book, Banon recounts the story she has already given on news programmes and to investigators currently looking into her complaint.

"Eight years ago the pig stole my life," she writes by way of introduction. She also details how she was invited to appear on television in the US but refused.

"I was offered lots of money to go on American TV to say I was making a complaint. I told David [Koubbi, her lawyer] to tell them to get lost," she writes.

Banon had the opportunity to come face-to-face with her alleged attacker when the two were questioned by investigators in September. The same day, Banon went on an evening news programme to talk about the experience.

"I honestly thought he would apologize," she told newscaster Laurence Ferrari. "He didn't even dare look at me."

40,000 copies of the book have been published. The book is the fourth by Banon, who has published three novels. She also works as a journalist for titles including Paris Match and Le Figaro.
