Carla Bruni expected to give birth in 10 days
President Nicolas Sarkozy's father let slip to a German newspaper on Thursday that his daughter-in-law is due to give birth on October 3rd.
October 3rd is also Germany's national day and commemorates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990.
83-year-old Pal Sarkozy also told Bild Zeitung the child would be "baptized in the Roman Catholic religion."
It's not the first time the president's father has revealed family secrets. The loose-tongued Sarkozy senior confirmed to the same newspaper in May that Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was pregnant.
Bruni-Sarkozy herself seems impatient to give birth. She told students last week that she "can't wait for it to end" and that she "can't smoke or drink wine" while she's pregnant. The child will be her second. She already has a ten-year-old son, Aurélien, with the philosopher Raphaël Enthoven.
President Sarkozy already has three children; two boys, Pierre and Jean, from his first marriage and another boy, Louis, from his marriage to Cecilia Attias. He was also the step-father of Cecilia Attias' two daughters, Judith and Jeanne-Marie.
