As the Bundesliga, Germany's top football league, kicks off its season, the College of Media Design (MD.H) announced the results of its own annual completion: the football jersey championships. So who has Germany's most stylish jersey? 1 FC-Nürnberg.

The squad's Bordeaux-red jersey, free from colourful adornments, impressed the panel, which awarded additional points for the jersey’s intricate detail.

“The white stripes appear very clean, functional and provide the jersey with the necessary brightness to avoid looking gloomy,” the committee said in a statement.

FC-Bayern Munich nabbed second place, with its retro-style slender cut and classic V-neck earning kudos.

“This one combined elements of past times with modern technology (material, cut, seams) very successfully. Additionally nice are the discreet material stripes, which are arranged evenly with the sponsor logos,” the committee said.

Third place laurels were awarded to Werder Bremen for its jersey's sharp cut and becoming silhouette.

“Here (we were) most impressed with the sharply pointed lines, which were harmonized perfectly with the sponsor logos and built unity among the printed elements, instead of letting them become foreign objects and optical disturbances,” the jury concluded.

Since 2007, a jury of MD.H professors and students have analysed the aesthetic features of all 18 teams’ jerseys, deciding which one leaves the best overall impression.

Last year's winner was FC St. Pauli and 2009's was TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
