Absent-minded Dane loses car in Malmö

Police are asking for help from the general public in aiding an elderly Dane who parked his car in central Malmö in July and can't remember where he left it.

“We have used all the methods of searching that we generally employ when looking for a stolen car, but we just can’t find it,” said Marie Persson, information officer at the Malmö police to local paper Skånskan.

The ocatagenarian recalls parking the car somewhere in central Malmö, most probably within two kilometres of local landmark the Turning Torso.

Taking help from the city’s highways department and the traffic wardens patrolling the area, officers have searched the surroundings without finding the vehicle.

The car has now been reported stolen, but the police are still not certain if anyone has actually made away with the vehicle or if it is still parked somewhere on a side street of Malmö.

“The car has not been towed and no one has reported finding it. There are no traffic wardens who have reacted, so we are beginning to wonder if there aren’t other parking companies that we haven’t been in contact with,” Persson told daily Sydsvenskan.

Both the Danish police and the man’s relatives in Denmark have been in touch with Swedish police and they are now asking the public for help with finding the car.

The car is a large white Peugeot of unknown model with Danish license plates.
