Two Swedish suspects have been identified in a major global paedophile ring spanning 14 countries which has been exposed by the US police.

Some 52 people have been arrested to date, 13 of them have admitted to the charges. A further 72 suspects have been identified for having used an internet-based noticeboard for paedophiles.

Members of Dreamboard themselves committed serious assaults against children, and the more films or pictures a member published, the more he was given access to.

The abused children were all younger than 12-years-old, some were babies. To gain access to some parts of the network there was a requirement that the child in the pictures was visibly suffering or crying.

Police in Stockholm are very familiar with the Dreamboard network. A man in his forties has been remanded into custody at Södertörn district court on suspicion of raping children overseas and aggravated child pornography offences.

"We received information from the US that there was a Swedish suspect involved. We have so far been able to identify three Swedish girls featured in the material," said Liz Berglund at the National Police Agency (Rikskriminalen) IT crimes section.

A 32-year-old man from Blekinge who was sentenced to psychiatric care on Tuesday on a string of charges involving sex offences against children, among other things 70 rapes of a six-year-old girl, is one of the paedophiles which the police exposed via Dreamboard.
