'Nothing wrong' with bus in Stockholm crash
No technical fault has been found with the bus that drove into a crowd of people on a busy pedestrian square in central Stockholm at the end of May, according to a police investigation.
"We have not found any fault or any other problem with the bus which can have caused the accident," said Bengt Jandorrf, who led the police investigation, to the TT news agency.
Jandorrf was unwilling to comment on whether driver error was to blame for the bus veering into a crowd of people on Södermalmstorg. The police investigation is due to be completed shortly.
The driver of the bus has previously told police that the brakes failed as she attempted to bring the vehicle to a halt. The brakes had been subject to reparations earlier in the week.
Six people were injured in the crash when the bus veered off the road, crashed down some steps and came to a stop on the busy market square near Slussen metro station.
One man was seriously injured with five others, including a 17-month-old-child, treated for minor injuries.
The 15-year-old Scania bus was inspected and serviced in mid-April. It was scheduled to be taken out of service later this year since 15 years is the upper age limit for buses plying routes in the Stockholm region.
