Former tennis legend and all-round German celebrity Boris Becker, has had his villa on Majorca officially confiscated by a court because he has not paid his gardening bill.

Becker has been trying to sell the Son Coll villa since 2007, but has not been able to find a buyer willing to pay the €15 million price-tag.

There now remains a bill of €276,162 to be paid to the Jardines Alfavia SL gardening firm for maintaining the 265,000 square metres of grounds. He has been told by a Spanish court to pay the bill or see the villa auctioned off.

Becker, who is pictured doing some gardening himself in Praktiker DIY store adverts, says he intends to use the villa for a family holiday this summer.

Becker’s lawyers say payment of the gardening bill depends on the sale of the villa and the firm will just have to wait until that has happened.

Matthias Kühn, described in the Bild newspaper reporting the story as a ‘celebrity estate agent’, supposedly agreed to take on the gardening costs until he could sell the villa, but he disputes this.

The gardening firm has already won one court case against Becker, but he appealed against it and has refused to pay anything. The gardening firm then applied for the villa to be confiscated which the Mallorca Zeitung reports was agreed by a court last month.

The Mallorca Zeitung also reported on Friday that a building firm employed to carry out extensive repairs to the villa is claiming more than €490,000, over which a court date has not yet been set. The paper also reported that an architect had to wait for a long time for his money, finally receiving his €41,200 last October in an out-of-court settlement.
