Swedish police called after sandbox brawl
A seven-year-old boy reported a suspected assault to the police following a sandpit brawl in Arboga, central Sweden, on Tuesday.
"He hit me," the indignant boy told police regarding the actions of his equally young playground opponent, according to a report in the local Arbogabladet newspaper.
The call came in shortly after 6pm on Tuesday after the boy returned home from the playground.
Whenever a call comes into the station, operators make an assessment as to whether police need to intervene.
As it turned out, police decided that no squad car needed to be sent in response to the boy's report about Tuesday's sand pit brawl.
Instead the boy was advised to speak to his parents to see if they could help him solve the problem.
“If it doesn’t work out, the parents are more than welcome to contact us,” Lars Hamrin of the local police told the paper.
According to Hamrin it is not that unusual that small children call the police.
And generally, the officers don’t mind.
“It is wise of parents to teach their kids the SOS number,” he said to the paper, referencing 112, Sweden's national emergency telephone number.
Police have chosen not to investigate the matter further.
