Snowflakes forecast for weekend
The weather will remain sunny and pleasant for most of the week, but spring isn’t here to stay just yet, the German Weather Service (DWD) said on Tuesday. Cold and even a few snowflakes could return this weekend.
Tuesday will remain sunny and dry, with just a few clouds in the north and temperatures topping out between nine and 17 degrees Celsius. The warmest highs are expected in the Rhine River Valley, DWD meteorologist Dorothea Paetzold said.
Overnight conditions will still be chilly, but daytime weather will remain similar for Wednesday, with an even warmer 19 degrees expected in along the Rhine.
On Thursday thick cloud cover will roll over the northern half of the country, though it will remain dry. Highs will increase to between nine degrees in the north to 20 degrees along the Upper Rhine.
“On Friday the weather will change, though,” Paetzold said in a statement. “Colder air will surge over us from the north.”
Residents in the east and south could even see snowflakes over the weekend, she said.
“But no worries, the sun will still show itself now and again,” she added.
