Two men arrested after holding woman prisoner
Two men were detained in Malmö on Sunday night on suspicion of having held a young woman imprisoned for two days, with one of them also suspected of aggravated rape.
The men were arrested on Sunday since the police freed a woman who had been held against her will in an apartment in the Holma district of Malmö for two full days. The men were arrested after interrogation.
Magnus Svensson at Malmö police declined to divulge what the men had said in the interrogation, but said that the investigation covers a broad criminal register.
"Both have not committed all the offences, but I don't want to go into who has done what," he said to the TT news agency.
The woman on Sunday managed to send an text message to an acquaintance who was able to alarm the police.
The police suspected that the two men who were in the apartment were armed and a large area was cordoned off around the apartment block. A large number of officers, including negotiators and an ambulance, was sent to the location.
The two men, aged 24 and 31-years-old, who were in the apartment could be arrested by 3pm. The woman, around 18-years-old, was taken into care and attended to by ambulance staff.
She is not reported to have sustained any serious physical injuries.
Both men are reportedly known to police.
Earlier over the weekend a 17-year-old was shot in the leg in the same district of Malmö. The man escaped without serious injury. According to police it is as yet unclear whether the two incidents are connected.
