Apple Sweden rides iPhone popularity wave

US technology giant Apple has reported a boom in Swedish sales for the 2010 financial year, with the popularity of iPhone behind the buoyant figures.

Apple Sales International sold for more than 4.6 billion kronor ($716 million) in Sweden in 2010, up from 2.4 billion in the previous year, according to a report from Swedish subsidiary Apple AB.

The firm's financial year ended in September 30th 2010, before the iPad tablet PC was launched in Sweden.

Total sales in the Nordic region for Apple Sales International, whose headquarters are located in Ireland, amounted to 10.9 billion kronor, compared with 6.4 billion the previous year.

"Expectations for 2011 are high," Apple AB wrote in the annual report.

Apple Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of U.S. Apple Inc, and provides technical sales support and marketing services to the Irish sister company.
