Swedes break text messaging record

Champagne glass in one hand and a cell phone in the other. This year New Year's Eve broke all previous records in number of text and photo messages sent.
Together, customers of the three major telephone operators Telia, Tele2 and Telenor sent over 78 million New Year's greetings with their mobile phones.
Telia and Tele2's networks alone received 65 million messages, 7 million more than the previous year.
Almost a million MMS's were also sent through Telia's networks, and the most intensive period was, not altogether surprisingly, the hour before and after midnight.
