The murder suspect and the victim had known each other in passing previously and had partied together the day before. According to the murder suspect, a debt between the two men gnawed away at him, the report said.

On Midsummer Eve in June this year, the murder suspect took the bus to the 30-year-old victim's apartment on Sadelmakaregatan in Helsingborg in southwestern Sweden.

The murder suspect was armed with a bag carrying a meat cleaver, awl and knife and accompanied by a 27-year-old man who had promised to keep watch at the door, the report said.

An autopsy report revealed the victim had sustained over 100 injuries when he was brutally beaten on the living room floor.

Before leaving the man's apartment, the murder suspect grabbed a pair of scissors and cut the victim's penis off, according to the accomplice, Kvällsposten reported.

"I turned away to avoid watching," the accomplice recounted during questioning, according to Kvällsposten, adding that he believed that the man was still alive at the time.

The murder suspect called emergency services anonymously after the incident, informing them that they should send an ambulance to the address. He then shared details of the mutilation with several acquaintances, the report said.

The day after the incident, the murder suspect was arrested by police and his accomplice the following day.

The murder suspect has only acknowledged hitting the victim once with a meat cleaver, while the accomplice completely denies the crime, the report said.
