Wanted in Sweden: portly, older men with beards
Jolly and preferably large-bellied men looking for a chance to ride in a sleigh can now submit their applications for a job recently advertised by Sweden's main jobs agency.
"We're looking for older, rotund men who can act as Santa Claus during weekends during Advent, as well as in the days leading up to Christmas Eve," reads an ad published Thursday on the website of Sweden's Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen).
Duties specified in the advert include "sitting in a sleigh" at a number of shopping centres around Sweden.
A representative from the company that placed the announcement, Teaterbolaget
Eventsupporten in Brottby, 30 kilometres north of Stockholm, told The Local on Wednesday afternoon that applications have been flowing in.
"We've already received a huge number of applications. We're interviewing people right now, so we don't really have time to talk," he said.
The advert explains that the company can provide applicants with Santa suits, as well as beards, "but if you have your own, that's just fine."
The closing day for applications is December 16th.
