Christmas letters flood in to Swedish post office

With still two months to go before Christmas, the Swedish post office, Posten, has revealed that it has received a wave of letters addressed to Santa Claus.

The post office has confirmed receipt of over 1,400 letters to date, forecasting that around 100,000 Christmas lists and drawings addressed to Santa Claus (known as Tomten in Swedish).

While most of the letters come from children living in Sweden, many of the letters come from hopeful youngsters living around the globe who believe that Santa lives in the Swedish part of Lapland.

The items at the top of 2009 wish lists included computer games, Lego and a family pets, according to Posten.
