Man shot at Stockholm strip club

Two masked men shot a man at a strip club in central Stockholm on Friday evening in what police believe could be a battle for market share among the city's sex clubs.

Police believe that the victim may have information over his attackers.

Two masked men entered the strip on Norrlandsgatan. One of them pulled an automatic weapon and fired several rounds against a member of staff who was hit in both legs.

Police believe that the circumstances indicate that the gunman did not shoot to kill the employee, who is reported to be in his sixties.

"My personal theory is that he was not chosen at random and that he had been threatened before being shot. It is him that they were after and I believe also that he was shot because he had not done as he had been told," said Mikael Pettersson at Stockholm police.

The victim was able to alarm the police by himself and has submitted a brief description of his assailants, which according to other witnesses ran away along Lästmakargatan. Where they then went is not known and police had on Saturday not yet identified a suspect.

The injured man was operated on Friday night at Karolinska University Hospital in Solna. He spent several hours on the operating table but there is currently no information indicating that his life is in any danger.
