The 40-year-old was detained by police at 11pm on Friday night during the concert at the Conventum arena in Örebro in central Sweden on suspicion of aggravated assault.

The man is reported to have been heavily inebriated when he bit the guard so tenaciously that part of their ear came away. The man also verbally threatened the guard, according to the local Nerikes Allehanda daily.

The man was escorted from the concert and house in a cell under he sobered up. The prosecutor later formally arrested the man after a police interrogation during the night.

US rockers W.A.S.P. are in the middle of a Sweden tour, with further dates in Malmö and Gothenburg scheduled for Sunday and Monday respectively.
