KRAV has accused the Greens of illicit piggybacking by using its logo, a registered trademark, without permission, Sveriges Radio reports.

“The Green Party is using the KRAV brand for party political propaganda,” the organization’s chief executive, Lars Nellmer, told the public broadcaster.

The organization has established a high level of brand recognition since its inception in 1985, with a KRAV label instantly recognizable to consumers as an indication of a product’s adherence to ecological standards.

On its poster the Green Party’s pleas to”modernize Sweden” is illustrated by a picture of a KRAV-branded tomato.

Magnus Johansson, one of the Green Party board members responsible for the campaign, failed to see a problem with the poster.

“We’ve used an ecological tomato, and to illustrate the fact that it’s ecological we’ve used the most recognizable brand, KRAV’s brand,” he told Sveriges Radio.

KRAV’s Lars Nellmer said he would be consulting the organization’s lawyers on Monday to discuss the legal ramifications of the Green Party’s use of the label on its campaign poster.
